Hating Sarah

Yes, she has a new book out.  Yes, she’s back in the limelight.  She’s making the talk show circuit and she’s everywhere you look.

But that doesn’t mean the press needs to start using her for target practice again.

Two stories strike my mind.  First is the Newsweek cover picturing Sarah Palin in a pair of running shorts.  Millions of people will see that picture on news stands and think- “Is that how she posed for a Newsweek cover?  Shameless!”  What they won’t realize is that picture was taken for an article in Runner’s World during the campaign.  As an avid runner, such an outfit would be perfectly acceptable for the cover of a sporting magazine, while it would not be appropriate for the cover of a news magazine.  Newsweek attempting to make her look non-credible as a political figure.

Second, the Fox report that Associated Press has 11 separate fact checkers investigating the new Palin book for accuracy.  Usually one’s enough.  Of course, if you remember when she was a vice presidential candidate, all of the news sources were digging around Alaska looking for any dirt they could get on her.  Funny doing all that digging in Alaska they didn’t strike gold or oil, only a bit of moose manure.

Lest we forget, President Obama has been photographed without his shirt.  Ronald Reagan starred in movies with a monkey.  But I believe the governor of California wins the prize hands down for most embarrassing photograph.
